Atanassov, Nikola

Nikola Atanassov(1886-1969), Bulgarian composer, studied at the Conservatory of Zagreb, then taught at Stara Zagora, Pleven, Sofia, and the State Academy of Music and later became professor(1929-58). He was Rector of the State Academy of Music(1934-37). He composed the first Bulgarian symphony and the first Bulgarian piano sonata. The orchestral music predominates in his works.
