Ascher, Leo

Leo Ascher(1880-1942), Austrian(later US) composer of operettas, popular songs, and film scores, studied law at the University of Vienna, then studied music at the Vienna Conservatory. He emigrated to USA in 1930 and taught in New York, his artistic estate is kept at the Leo-Ascher center of operetta music at the Millersville University of Pennsylvania which also provides the Leo Ascher Music Award to undergraduates. He composed operettas, songs, and film scores.
