Arcas, Julian

Julian Arcas(1832-1882), Spanish classical guitarist and composer. During 1860-1870 he performed all over Europe. He has become more well-known due to the beauty of his music and the release of his complete works. Arcas influenced the development of the classical guitar, particularly with regard to the design of the soundboard. He was appointed as the Honorary Master of the Conservatory of Madrid, and being knighted in the Royal Order. He wrote 52 original works and transcribed 30 pieces for guitar.
